The industrial designer developed a particular affinity to matters of table culture as a student. His first own design studio in Munich was followed by a second, in Paris. Nowadays, he works in Portugal and develops designs for porcelain and glass at his studio in Porto. He also designs furniture and develops interior design concepts.

The DELIGHT collection is not the first to be created in close collaboration with the internal design team – the highly successful CONTOUR collection also bears his characteristic signature.

The art of Origami underlies the unique fascination of the specials from the DELIGHT porcelain collection.

BHS tabletop expresses the same theme in finest porcelain that triggered hype in the worlds of fashion and interior design: A character reminiscent of Origami paper-folding techniques make the specials of the collection live up to their name.

The delicate filigree of the edges lends the collection a visual lightness that creates a perfect backdrop for a spectacular presentation of the finest culinary creations.

In combination with the slim edges, the soft BoneWhite shade highlights the expressive elegance of every piece.

Typical for porcelain Made in Germany: the colour shade remains constant throughout the production process and ensures that pieces from different production batches always harmonise to perfection.

In the kitchen and in service: porcelain for professionals must fulfil what it promises – in the busy everyday life of the gastronomic segment, real rim chipping resistance is a must, particularly considering  what the rims of the plates and cups go through everyday.

At BHS, we test just how hard we can get: in a special testing set-up, a pendulum swings down from increasing heights to hit the edges of the pieces.

The height achieved without chipping is the measure of the rim chipping resistance.

Pieces manufactured from the Noble China stood up very well to the test – despite them having such thin rims.

What is the point of visual elegance if it’s limited to only a few appearances?

‘No point at all!’, says the BHS-team, and subjects the glaze to a critical test to see how well it resists cuts and scratches.

The in-house experts rate the DELIGHT collection as

‘Visually delicate and exceptionally robust’.

As a true hard porcelain fired at over 1400°C, Noble China amazes with a resilience that sets entirely new standards.

It is the glaze of this fine porcelain that makes it so resilient and assures it such a long service life.

Noble China is also the ideal choice for users who attach particular importance to ethical and health concerns since no animal components or toxic elements such as lead or cadmium are used in its production.

The official market launch already saw Schönwald sending the collection on its travels:

In fact, three prominent establishments chose DELIGHT and decided to find out just how variable and tough the collection would be in everyday use:

Classically, hot beverages like speciality coffees and finest teas are served in cups or mugs.

A fine soup, however – for instance from fresh garden peas with an almond-crusted filo stick and goat cheese gratin – doesn’t always have to be served in a deep plate or bowl ...

For every situation – from fine to casual dining, for banquets or in top-of-the-market cafés – the pieces of the DELIGHT porcelain collection are supremely talented all-rounders.

Thanks to the enormous variety of pieces, variations on the Tafelstern modular concept can also be played within the DELIGHT collection.

The beautifully curvaceous S-line of the flat, rimmed plates appears as a leitmotif throughout the collection.

The generously sized, deep-rimmed plates are ideal not only for soups and for pasta dishes, they are also a perfect setting for seared scallops with deep-fried oysters bedded on cucumber foam.

He collects stars, cooking spoons and Gusto pans. He's a Chef out of passion and took over the family-owned restaurant when his parents retired.

The Berghof is now in the able hands of the 4th generation of the Schütz family. The long-established motto of ‘Traditional & Modern’ lives on in the restaurant, in the tavern and on the patio. From a rustic cold-cut sausage salad to five course menus, the ambiance on the plate and at the table plays a significant role for Alexander Schütz.

"For us, and especially for me as a Chef, the porcelain deserves center stage as well. Good food, a good dish, a good soup or sauce is one thing but it has to be matched with the perfect porcelain partner, in the corresponding atmosphere. These are the ingredients that can make a wonderful evening."

Guests enjoy a choice selection of honest, down-to-earth cooking in a relaxed, authentic atmosphere. Modern twists on traditional favourites are the perfect partner for the DELIGHT collection.

The DELIGHT collection can already be found on the tables in his restaurant. The coupe plates and specials are his particular personal favourites that inspire him to new culinary creations.

"Coming up with a new dish, creating food is always a process. Just like creating new porcelain, it keeps developing, one shape inspires the next, one ingredient takes the dish to the next level. More of this, less of that, so you can have a dish inspired by a shape that just keeps developing at the highest niveau."

The oval shape could be a drop of water or a shell reminiscent of the ocean for a seafood dish.  Or is it  interpreted as a banana leaf to serve a desert?

Inspiration has no limits.

"A good dish always looks good - but the same dish appears completely different from one plate to the next. That’s why I’m always faced with the wonderful challenge of finding the right plate for the right dish, the right mood and the right season."

Alexander Schütz firmly believes that this expression also applies to the those in the food scene:  the porcelain is the fine feathers, the food is the fine bird and together your fine dining  is complete.

As they offer generous space for the presentation of extravagant culinary creations, coupe plates have long since become the particular favourites of cooks. In the DELIGHT collection, they are available in various sizes and in flat and deep versions.

A baked monkfish in bouillabaisse stock with vegetable pearls and a trammezzini roulade looks simply wonderful in any of the variations.

When it comes to gold, things look a little different:
at least the occasion must be festive.
